Banaras Hindu University offers Registration of Foreign nationals for Short term Affiliation (minimum 3 months to maximum of 2-years duration) as Non- Degree Research Fellow in all the Departments / Faculties.

For this purpose, the candidate can apply directly or through the Sponsoring Agency, enclosing his/her detailed bio-data and the proposed research program including the duration for which the research project is intended.

On finding the candidate and the research project fit, and on a supervisor being available to guide the candidate, affiliation certificate is issued by the University to the candidate which he/ she has to submit to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India for approval of his/ her research project.

The University issues the Affiliation Certificate keeping in view the following points:

• Whether the research project is appropriately formulated.

• Whether the research scholar has necessary academic background and research experience to complete the proposed research within the specific period.

• Whether the University has necessary facilities to offer for carrying out the research.

•  That the topic of research is not of a sensitive nature.

•  That the topic of research is not of a trivial nature.

The candidate can join the University only after approval of the Research Project by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. On receiving the approval, the candidate can apply for a proper VISA to the Indian Embassy in his/her country and on getting the Visa, can come to BHU to join the course.

Important: The Candidate should ensure that this non- degree awarding short term affiliation should not involve any financial commitment on the part of the Banaras Hindu University

Fee Structure:

Sponsored candidates (like USEFI, AIIS, Barkaley Professional Studies Programme in India and Shastri Indo- Canadian Institute):

-  INR 2500/- as affiliation fee from a Ph.D. student who is a regular Ph.D. student in an American University

-  INR 3500/- for Affiliation from a Faculty Fellow of the Institute.

Self- financing foreign nationals:(for period upto 1 year)

-  US$ 500/- from candidates of countries other than SAARC, Myanmaar and Afganistan.

-  US$ 200/- from candidates from SAARC, Myanmaar and Afganistan.
