Year of establishment: 1999
This important discipline came into existence as Unit of Biostatistics in 1974 under the leadership of Dr. NSN Rao and upgraded as Division of Biostatistics in 1999 after the approval of Executive Council of Banaras Hindu University. Through the personnel of Biostatistics 12 Ph.D., were awarded, 1 book and 1 manual were published. More than 80 papers were published in international and national journal. The division organized 2 conferences, one of Indian Society for Medical Statistics and other of Biometrics for Asian Region.
The faculty members have served as expert consultant in various international organizations like WHO, DANIDA, UNAIDS etc. The division is catering the research and training needs of the entire three faculties within the institute.
