Our field of research is focused on diverse aspects of Environmental & Molecular Microbiology which include the following :
1. Study resistance mechanisms in heavy metal (Pb, Cd, Hg), metalloid (As, Te, Se) and organometal (TBTCl) resistant bacteria.
2. Study to assess bioremediative potential of heavy metal/ metalloid/ organometal (TBTCl) resistant bacteria.
3. Development and characterization of luminescent bacterial sensors for toxic metals/metalloids/ organometals using recombinant DNA technology.
4. Bioprospecting of terrestrial and marine bacteria for industrially important enzymes viz. protease, cellulase, lipase, amylase and antimicrobial metabolites using culture dependent and metagenomic approach .
5. Biosynthesis of Selenium and Tellurium nanoparticles using cyanobacteria and marine bacteria, their biological characterization and applications.
