Functional Genomics and Proteomics of cyanobacteria and Plants:
During my doctoral research at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India, I had performed intensive physiological, biochemical and molecular studies to characterize how the cyanobacterium Anabaena doliolum adapts to heat and UV-B stress and gained expertise in physiology, molecular biology, functional genomics and proteomics. While working as post doctoral researcher at Umea Plant Science Center, Umea, Sweden and Max Planck Institute for Plant Breading Research, Cologne Germany, I expanded my training/specialization in molecular genetics, protein biochemistry, crystallography, imaging (confocal) , genomics, and organelle ( chloroplast, nuclear,) proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and mass spectrometry in relation to higher plant i.e. Arabidopsis thaliana. The main focus of the my research group will be to develop cross-disciplinary advanced research on the following issues:
(I) To unravel the molecular mechanisms of abiotic stress tolerance in cyanobacteria and plants.
(II) To understand molecular mechanisms of signal transduction under abiotic stress in cyanobacteria and plants.
