About CGD: Initially funded by DBT (2006-2011), the Centre for Genetic Disorders was established by BHU as its academic unit in 2008. Our focus is on estimation of the burden of genetic disease on the community, unravel their underlying molecular mechanism(s) and develop strategies to diagnose, treat and manage them. To achieve this, we have research programmes on genetic and complex disorders, a diagnostic unit for chromosomal and genetic disorders and a teaching programme to produce technically skilled resource personnel for research, diagnostics and management.
