Area of Specialization:Ionic liquid, Polymer electrolytes and Biopolymer electrolytes |
The study of solid polymer electrolyte materials is very useful, because of the potential application of these materials in a great variety of electrochemical devices such as high energy density batteries, fuel cells, sensors super capacitors etc. The ILs are room temperature molten salts and consist of ions of small molecules. Using ILs as a plasticizer is the radical approach due to its unique properties viz. a wide electrochemical stability window, wide usable temperature range, low volatility and flammability, low vapor pressure and high ionic conductivity. The development of polymer electrolyte system with high ionic conductivity has been our main objective. Currently our research interest is focused on developing biopolymer based solid biopolymer electrolytes and its application in DSSCs.
