Research interest covers the area of classical and semiclassical fluids, interfacial phenomena, behavior of confined liquids, phase transitions, electron localization in liquid like medium, liquid crystals, polymers and biological systems. Important contributions have been made to the following topics of Soft Condensed Matter Physics

    A. Effect of multi-polar correlations on properties of molecular liquids.
    B. Quantum corrections to pair correlation functions and to the thermodynamic properties of fluids.
    C. Theory for liquid-vapour and solid-liquid interfaces
    D. Theory for electron localization in liquids.
    E. Density functional theory for glass transition.
    F. First - principle theory for freezing of molecular liquids into liquid crystalline phases.
    G. Density functional theory for the elastic constants and the flexoelectric effects of liquid crystals.
    H. Theory for transitions involving collapse, segregation, entanglements, adsorption of polymers in random media.
    I. Theory for freezing of liquids into crystalline solids in two- and three-dimensions.
    J. Thermal and force - induced unzipping of DNA.
    K. Theory for bubble dynamics in DNA.

    CURRENT RESEARCH INTEREST:

    1. Unified theory for liquids and solids: liquid-solid and solid-solid transitions.
    2. Molecular theory for liquid crystals.
    3. Effect of dimensionality and confinement of properties of liquids and on freezing transitions.
    4. Dynamical density functional theory for systems in non-equilibrium.
    5. Stochastic modelling and analysis of intra - cellular transport.
