LABORATORY FOR SCIENTIFIC STUDIES IN ARCHAEOLOGY



RECENT LABORATORY ACTIVITIES

In addition to imparting laboratory training to the students of M.A. (Final) Archaeology & Numismatics Group', Laboratory for Scientific Studies in Archaeology' is utilised for scientific researches in archaeometallurgy, ceramic technology and other study of inorganic materials.

  • Copper coins of from Agiabir, Khairadih, Anai and the coins recovered for explorations along the Varuna River were undertaken for treatment and preservation.

  •  Metallurgical studies of copper and iron sample from different sites were taken.

  •  A number of slag samples of iron from Sonbhadra district were studied.

                                                                 RECENT ACQUISITIONS

In the process of modernisation, the 'Laboratory for Scientific Studies in Archaeology' has procured following new equipments/instruments from the Grants from the DST and the UGC (under Xth Plan-Equipments).
