MASTER OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE
Department has kept pace with the changing scenario of library and information science profession. It is the need of the hour to produce Information Technology (IT) savvy professionals and the Department has positively responded and initiated Two years integrated Master of Library Science (M.L.I.S.) Programme with sufficient IT input. The objectives of Two Years integrated Master of Library Science (M.L.I.S.) Programme are:
· To give the students an understanding of the basic principles of librarianship.
· To train them in specialized knowledge of handling different kind of materials, types of libraries and information centers.
· To train them in Knowledge Management techniques in order to preserve Explicit Knowledge of the parent organization.
· To make them utilize IT in information storage, processing and retrieval.
· To acquaint them with ever changing social, cultural, educational and communicational framework of librarianship.
The curriculum has been thoroughly revised and all the modern tools and techniques are adopted in the curriculum of the Department. A balance between traditional and modern librarianship can be seen through the newly designed curricula of Department.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Graduate degree under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate including all subjects studied at Graduate level except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final.
Duration of Course: 2 Years (4 Semesters).

Duration of Test and Structure of Question Paper: There shall be one Paper of 120 minutes duration carrying 450 marks containing 150 multiple-choice questions. These questions shall be based on General Awareness, Analytical, Quantitative and Verbal Abilities and Aptitude. The questions will be from diverse areas of experience varying from the activities of daily life to broad categories of academic interest such as Science, Social Studies and Humanities, etc. The standard will be that of Bachelor's Degree (under 10+2+3 pattern). Questions are set in English medium only.
Semester Examinations (MLIS)
There will be 4 semester examinations during the course of study. In a session, 2 semester examination will be held at the end of semester i.e. December and April. There will be 4 Papers, each of 100 marks in every semester and candidate will have to give 3 test / sessionals in every paper which will be of 30 marks. Semester system of the university follows Grading System in lieu of traditional marking system. There will be 5 Credits in each paper, 20 Credits (total) in each semester. During course of study, there is a provision of tour programme also for the students. The sole purpose of tour programme is to expose the students to the various kinds of libraries and their working.
