A small gallery in the eastern extremity of first floor of the Museum is named after late Sri Mahendra Kumar Gupta who was a great connoisseur of art and belonged to Banaras. His life span was, unfortunately, cut short at the age of 44 in 1974 and his wife Smt. Sarojini Gupta donated the part of his collection to the Bharat Kala Bhavan.

The notable specimens on show are Sarasvati, Adinatha, one faced Sivalinga, Vishnu, Surya, disc and Nrisimha in stone, mother goddess, monkey and toys in terracotta, Gajendra-moksha, mother and child, etc. in ivory , wooden figures include an ornamented elephant and some interesting bronzes representing Brahmanical, Buddhist and Jaina deities. Chandrasekhara (Siva) is an excellent citation. The exhibits in the gallery range from the 3rd century B,C. to the 19th century A.D. .
