Area of specialization/awards/achievements: Biochemistry

(a) Defining molecular targets for anticancer agents in in vivo tumor models
We have (a) characterized > 4 novel Ru (II) complexes and fisetin & emodin as modulators of Akt-COX2-EP1-apoptosis and Akt-HI1α-bioenergetic-apoptotic pathways vis a vis regression of Daltons lymphoma and hepatocellular carcinoma in vivo
(b) Neurobiology of Hepatic-encephalopathy (HE):
We have developed CLF model of HE and demonstrated involvement of glutamate-NMDAR-nNOS pathway in the cortex and cerebellum during pathogenesis of chronic HE. Glutamate-NMDAR-pannexin-1 & NMDAR-SIRT-1 signaling is the current focus of research in this area.
