Prof. Mahesh Prasad Ahirwar

Brief facts:

        Dr. Mahesh Prasad Ahirwar is a Professor in the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. A gold medalist in M.A. (1991) from Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh).

        He did his Ph.D. from the RDVV, Jabalpur in 1998 for which he was awarded Junior Research Fellowship by UGC, New Delhi.

        His area of specialization is Indian Art and Culture. He has more than 21 years of teaching and research experience.

Publications

        Prof. Ahirwar is author of five books, which Shaiva Images of Kalchuri Period (Hindi) and Sraman Tradition and Sant Raidas (Hindi) are quit famous.

        He has published more than forty research papers in various reputed national and international journals and a number of articles in different News Papers and magazines.

        He is the editor of Jagriti, the Research Journal of History, Culture and Social Justice since 2000.

        He gave a number of Radio Talks on many socio-religious topics for All India Radio Varanasi and Gyanvani.

Member of Professional Bodies

Dr. Ahirwar is also member of various academic bodies like Indian Art History Congress (Guwahati), Numismatic Society of India (Varanasi) and Indian Archaeological Society (New Delhi).

        Visiting Professor of Indian Studies ICCR�s, Tagore Chair, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh 2014-2015.

        Member of UP Higher Education Service Commission for a period of two years from 2010 to 2012.

        Chancellor nominee, Raiganj University, Raiganj Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal (India) from 2016.

        Chancellor nominee, Diamond Harbour Women's University, Diamond Harbour Road, Sarisha, 743368, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal (India) from 2016.

        Member of advisory board in L.I.C. of India, North Central Zone, between 2002 and 2003.

        Coordinator, National Service Scheme, BHU under Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India 2007-2010.

        Chairman of Kho-Kho, Sports Board, BHU.

        Administrative Warden of Birla Hostel Research Wing (Birla-B)

Other Activities

        As a social worker Prof. M.P. Ahirwar is actively involved in various social movements.

        He is the founder member and trusty of �Ambedkar Buddha Mission� a public charitable trust, Begusarai (Bihar).

        He is also the founder member and vice chairman of �Dhamma Learning Centre� Sarnath, Varanasi, (UP)
