The UMC was established in 1971 by Former Education Minister (Govt. of India) this centre has organized more than three dozen adventurous activities including Fourteen Mountaineering Expeditions, climbing a dozen virgin peaks. This centre has been visited by First Everester Sir Edmond Hillary, First Indian Women Everester Bachendry Pal, Mrs. Santosh Yadav Everester Twice & Brig. Gyan Singh, etc.
