He was awarded LL.D. in the year 2008 for his work on “Protection of Copyright with Special Reference to Film and Music Industry” from Lucknow University. He worked as a lecturer at Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, Chhatisgarh for one year and then joined Law School, BHU in the year 2010.

His research papers have been published in leading national law journals. He has attended 32 seminars at the national and international level. His total teaching experience is of sixteen years. Dr. Maurya was the Principle Investigator in a Major Research Project sponsored by University Grant Commission, New Delhi entitled “A Socio Legal Study of the Protection of Human Rights of Neglected and Drug Addicted Children: A Case Study of Varanasi City and Adjoining Areas” for a three years tenure with 7,07,100.00 (Seven Lakh Seven Thousand One Hundred Rupees) grant.

Dr. Maurya is the Coordinator of the P.G. Diploma in Mass Communication and Media Laws, Faculty of Law, BHU and the Warden of Dr. Bhagwan Das Hostel, BHU. He has also been the Convenor of the Office of Social Welfare, Krishna College of Law, Bijnor.
