About Library

A library is an important part of an academic institution of higher learning. Its importance increases as it plays a significant role in the pursuit of academic excellence. Keeping this in view, a constant effort is being made to enrich the library with a collection of a wide variety of books and journals for the perusal of law students and scholars. The library caters to the needs of students and researchers engaged in legal studies and intensive research, besides satisfying the needs of the Bench and the Bar.

The Law School's library occupies the whole first floor of the institution and can accomodate over a hundred students at a time. The Law School has around 80,000 books and more than 135 international and national journals. An open access system has been adopted for easy access to the available literature and other information. The library provides 24/7 e-resource access to its students on-and-off the campus. The library's collection includes judgments, reporters, manuscripts and law reviews of national and international levels. Several important reference and citation analysis sources have also been subscribed to by the University. Users may contact the librarian for any additional help required while accessing the databases. It uses URKUND as a plagiarism detection tool provided by INFLIBNET.

For further references students can access the Central Library both online and offline. Named after Sayaji Rao Gaekwad, the Central Library is one magnificent building of resources. Presently, the Banaras Hindu University Library System consists of Central Library at the apex level, 3 Institute Libraries, 8 Faculty Libraries and 25 Departmental Libraries with a total collection of over 13 lakh volumes to serve the students, faculty members, researchers and technical staff of fourteen faculties consisting of 126 subject departments of the university.
