Specialization - Criminal Law and Criminology
She did her LL.B. (secured second position), LL.M. & Ph.D. from the Faculty of Law, BHU. The topic of her Ph.D. thesis was “Contempt of Court: Democracy and Judicial Accountability”. She started her teaching career in the year 2001 at Agra College, then moved to DDU Gorakhpur in 2002 and finally joined Law School, BHU in August 2002.
Dr. Tripathi has received many awards such as the “President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal” for the Session 1997-98 of Banaras Hindu University for being adjudged as Best Student of the University, the “Vidushi Ratna Samman” on 8 March 2011 by the Mahila Vyapar Mandal, Varanasi, the Vishist Shikshak Samman by Maitri Bhawan on the occasion of an educational seminar on “Vishva Nagrikta Bodh Srijan Shikshan ka Yogdan” on 9 September 2012 and the “Bharat Jyoti Award by India International Friendship Society on the occasion of an educational seminar on “Economic Growth and National Integration” on 12 June 2014.
She has supervised eight LL.M. dissertations and has acted as a Resource Person several times. She has more than 60 articles to her credit. Her write-ups have been published in various reputed journals including EPW. She has authored one book titled “Contempt of Court, Freedom of Speech Exploring Gender Biases”. She has attended 15 National and 5 International seminars till date. She is a visiting faculty at the Centre for Womens’ Studies and Development, BHU, Agrasen Kanya P.G. College, Parmanandpur, Varanasi, DAV Degree College, VKM Kamchha etc.
She has served BHU in various capacities including Member of Academic Council. Presently, she is a member of various bodies of BHU including the Legal Cell and the Women Grievance Cell.
Her areas of special interest are Feminism and Legal Status of Vulnerable Classes.
