Dr. Jai Prakash Rai

Specialization - Constitutional Law and Administrative Law

He completed his B.A from Allahabad University and his LL.B., LL.M. and Ph.D. from Law School, BHU. He qualified NET in Law in 1999 and is a recipient of the UGC Merit Scholarship in 1996-1998 and 1999-2000. He is also a recipient of the National Merit Scholarship by the Ministry of HRD in LL.M. (1998-2000). He stood 1st in order of merit during his LL.M. and was awarded a Gold Medal by BHU.

He started his teaching career in 2001 as a Lecturer at Harish Chandra P.G. College, Varanasi and joined the Faculty of Law, BHU in 2006. He became a Professor in 2016. He has published 15 research papers in national and international journals, written 1 book, written 4 chapters for other books, delivered 6 invited lectures and has presented at 76 international and national seminars and conferences. 1 Ph.D. has been awarded under his supervision and he is currently supervising 8 Ph.D. scholars. He has supervised 21 LL.M. dissertations.

He is a member of the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and the All India Law Teachers Congress, New Delhi. He is also a member of the Board of Studies of Bundelkhand University, Jhansi and R.M.L. Awadh University, Faizabad. Dr. Rai is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Banaras Law Journal, Vidhik Chetna and Chota Nagpur Law Journal.

He is the administrative warden of Dr. B.D Hostel, BHU and has been the Deputy Chief Proctor and Proctor of BHU. He has been bestowed upon the Certificate of Appreciation for attending the Appreciation Course in Parliamentary Processes & Procedures organised by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies & Training, Lok Sabha Secretariat, New Delhi. He is also a recipient of the National Special Teacher Award by the Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh. His areas of interest are Constitutional law and Administrative law.
