DOCUMENTRY ON MALVIYA HERITAGE COMPLEX
The Vice-Chancellor, Banaras Hindu University constituted in June 1999,
a Committee with ProfK.D. Tripathi, Member, Executive Council, Banaras
Hindu University as Chairman to chalk out the programme for the
establishment of Mahamana Malaviya Heritage Complex. A copy of the
notification is enclosed in the Appendix - I & II.
The Committee was favoured by the august presence of Prof Y C Simhadri,
Vice-Chancellor, Banaras Hindu University in the meetings held from time
to time. The proceeding of the meeting held is enclosed in the Appendix
- III.
The Vice-Chancellor was authorized to constitute different committees to
implement the suggestions of the members. Accordingly, the
Vice-Chancellor convened on August 8, 1999 a meeting. Prior to the
meeting, the Vice-Chancellor along with officers of the University and
some members of the committee inspected all the buildings adjacent to
Malaviya Bhavan, which will form the Mahamana Malaviya Heritage
Complex. A five member committee under the chairmanship of Prof K D
Tripathi was constituted with Prof S K Srivastava, ex-Malaviya Professor
of Sociology, Banaras Hindu University, Prof R H Singh, Hony. Director,
Malaviya Bhavan, Shri R C P Sinha, former Vice-Chancellor, Lalit Narain
Mithila University, Darbhanga and former Registrar, Banaras Hindu
University and Dr Vishwanath Pandey, Public Relations Officer, Banaras
Hindu University to prepare a report on the complex. The committee
unanimously decided that in order to formalize the opening of the
Heritage Complex at the earliest, the following time frame be
maintained:
1. Submission of the report of the five member Committee 14th August,
1999;
2. Announcement of Mahamana Malaviya Heritage Complex August 15, 1999;
3. Availability of the adjacent buildings presently occupied, which form
the Complex 30th August, 1999;
4. Review by the Committee of the progress 2nd September, 1999;
5. Repairs and renovations, master plan, etc. 3 months;
6. An Implementation Committee to monitor various recommendation
contained in the Report for Heritage Complex was constituted by the Vice
Chancellor under his Chairmanship (Annexure IV);
7. Foundation laying and first phase opening of the Mahamana Malaviya
Heritage Complex 18th December, 2000 (Birth Anniversary - Hindu
Calendar).
