Philosophy
Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya was one of those great souls of Modern India whole heartedly devoted to the cause of universal good. He was an epitome of Sanatan Dharma. His philosophy is derived from his learning, understanding, teaching and interpreting of the Bhagwad Gita. He considered Gita as an ultimate book of the world, for it inspires all human beings to lead a just life. It imparts not only the spiritual wisdom but also a worldly one. In the words of Mahamana, "As a lantern illumines our way in the darkness, Gita enlightens us with the knowledge of our duties. It provides us the best of the best teachings of both spiritual and worldly wisdom." Perhaps, this is the reason that almost every great leader of the Freedom Movement was influenced by it Malaviyaji, Tilak and Gandhiji are a few amongst them. While giving sermons on the Gita Malaviyaji used to call it Gita as an invaluable text in the daily lives of the people and also the best companion in the hard times. In his words, "People fight in this world; there is violence. In such a world and in such a condition, the Gita is the only precious book that helps us in life. It has a beautiful conglomeration of Dharma and politics. On this earth, there is no book like the Gita which provides moral support and a solution to an individual in the turbulent times." Mahatma Gandhi too opines that we feel secured and assured when we consult the Gita in tough times. Since, the Gita is a trouble-shooter, Malaviyaji wanted to promote and propagate it in each and every city and village of the world. He was of the view that doing so will annihilate the injustice and it will also benefit people spiritually.
Mahamana Malaviyaji is of the opinion that all the scriptures of the Sanatan Dharma talk of a single God who is called by different names. That One God has been attributed with different names such as Ishwar, Parmeshwar, Parbrahm, Narayan, Bhagawan, Vasudeva, Shiva, Rama, Krishna, Vishnu, Jihova,, Khuda, Allah, etc. Acording to Malaviyaji God exists in every atom. atom. He is present in every single living being on this earth in whom he does not live. Malaviyaji says, that the God himself in the Gita tells Arjuna that He radiates the hearts of all living beings with his presence. He accepted the view of Ved Vyasa that the light of Brahm is in our heart, not anywhere else and it is equally present in all living beings. Malaviyaji believed that since He is in every living creature, we should love all living beings and should treat every creature with compassion. In his own words, "If you keep this in your mind that God is present in all living creatures, you would always be truly in the company of God and your other fellow brethren." He, like Vivekanand, considered the service of human beings as the service of the God. He was of opinion that one who does not use the strength given by God in the service of human beings is a thief.
