Chronology

(1861-1946)

• 1893 – Started practicing law in Allahabad High Court in December.

• 1898 – Submitted a Memorandum for introduction of Nagari Script in law court to the Lt.

  • Governor of North West Provinces (Presently U.P.) in March.

• 1901 – Chosen as the Vice-Chairman of Allahabad Municipality.

• 1902-03 – Was instrumental in the establishment of Macdonald Hindu Hostel for student of Allahabad

  • University by raising funds through donation.

• 1903 – Appointed member of the Provincial Council, a position which he held until 1912.

• 1904 – Presented a plan for the establishment of Hindu University in a meeting held under the

  • Chairmanship of Kashinaresh Prabhu Narayan Singh.

• 1905 – The plan for establishment of Hindu University forwarded to a committee for its consideration

  • on the occasion of the Banaras Session of Congress.

• 1906 – The proposal for the establishment of Hindu University unanimously approved in the

  • convention of Sanatana Dharma Sabha held on the occasion of Kumbh in Prayag in January.

• 1907 – Launched Hindi weekly Abhyuday under his editorship.

• 1908 – Chaired the Second Provincial Political Conference held at Lucknow.

• 1909 – Publication of Leader under his editorship.

  • – Chaired the Lahore Session of Congress in December.

• 1910 – Chosen member of the Imperial Legislative Council, a position which he held until 1920.

  • – Protested against the Press Act and the Sedition Act in the Council.

  • – Delivered the presidential address in the inaugural session of "Hindu Sahitya Sammelan" in
    - October.
