National Training Program of Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd.


In addition to its regular academic activities, FMS BHU conducted three-day National Training Programs of Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. for its Utility Poorvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd.

The agreement was made as part of the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) of Ministry of Power, Government of India. This was in accordance with the Tripartite MoU signed between Banaras Hindu University, Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd., and Poorvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd.

About CIRE/ REC:

Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd., (RECL) is the implementing agency for Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) scheme, under which franchising is an essential component. REC is thus committed to ensure development of Franchisees in power distribution. Central Institute for Rural Electrification (CIRE), a training institution under REC, has been engaged in meeting the training and development needs of engineers, managers and other employees of power and energy sector for the last two and half decades. With a massive training infrastructure upgrading plan under implementation, the Institute strives to be a focal point for training of the personnel engaged in power transmission, distribution and distributed generation in India specifically, and South East Asia in general. It also undertakes to train C&D category of employees of Power Utilities and Power Distribution Franchisees in States. Additionally, CIRE undertakes such activities and creates forums to generate new ideas and models that will help policies and programs pursued from time to time by power sector organizations.
